Set up a Linksys range extender
The Linksys Wireless-N Range Extender allows you to repeat the wireless signal of any access point or router to supply Internet connectivity in hard to succeed in areas through a wired or wireless connection. This article will guide you on the way to manually configure your wireless range extender. Before you start, confirm that you’ve done the following:-
- Identify the Linksys range extender router/access point’s wireless settings which are:-
- Wireless network name (SSID)
- Wireless channel
- Wireless password or security/network key
- Reset the range extender – Press and hold the Reset button as well as located at the top panel of the Linksys range extender for five (5) seconds or until the LED starts blinking to restore to its factory default settings.
Step 1:- Connect your computer to the Ethernet port of your range extender using coaxial cable.
Step 2:- Plug your Linksys range extender to the facility outlet. Make sure the LED lights are stable.
Step 3:- Launch an internet browser and enter your router’s IP Address or “192.168.1.1” within the Address bar or extender.linksys.com.
NOTE: If your computer has defined a default startup website on your browser, the panel posing for a username and password will automatically appear.
Step 4:-You will be prompted with a window asking for a username as well as password. Leave the User Name blank and enter “admin” within the Password field then, click Log In.
Step 5:-Click Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings.
Step 6:- Set the radio button to Manual then enter your Linksys range extender smart Wi-Fi router’s Network FName (SSID).
Step 7:- On the Wireless Security section, select the safety settings that match your router’s configuration. Enter your Passphrase and WEP Key then click Save Settings.
Step 8:- Unplug the facility cables of the router and therefore the range extender for 30 seconds. Plug in the router first. Wait for all the lights to be stable then connect the range extender. Your Linksys range extender should now be in synchronized together with your router.
