How to update your Linksys router’s firmware during a few simple steps

Firmware updates are bug fixes and functionality enhancements for the Linksys router. Keeping the firmware of your Linksys router device updated is significant because it fixes issues you’ll encounter while using it. The updated Linksys router firmware downloaded from the Linksys Router Support site also can contain device feature enhancements that are not available within the previous versions.

Using the Check for Updates button:-

Step 1:- Log in to your Linksys router server account. Once the web interface opens, click Connectivity.

NOTE: Hence if you do not have a Linksys Router server account, click here for instructions on the way to access your router’s settings without logging in to a Linksys server account.

Step2:- As well under the Firmware Update section under the essential tab, click Check for Updates.

Step 3:- Once the router detects a firmware update, you’ll be ready to download and install the firmware on your device. Select the Click here link to upgrade. NOTE: If the No updates found message is displayed, as well as it means your router has the newest firmware version.

Step 4:- On the Update firmware pop-up box, click Yes. Your router will start updating the firmware.

IMPORTANT:- During this process, don’t power OFF the router or close the browser window to avoid corrupting the firmware of your router.

QUICK TIP: just in case you see a prompt to undertake again later, the server could also be slow or not available for the instant. Try to upgrade the router again at a later time to resolve the difficulty.

Step 5:- A Linksys Router Reboot screen will pop up. Click Ok to continue. NOTE:– The router reboot process usually takes a couple of minutes.

Step 6:- Once the Linksys Router firmware upgrade is complete, click Ok on the Firmware update complete screen.

 

Enabling Automatic update:-

Step 1:- Log in to your Linksys router server account. Once the web interface opens, click Connectivity.

NOTE: If you don’t have a Linksys server account, access the router’s web-based setup page by opening an internet browser and entering “http://myrouter.local” or “192.168.1.1” within the Address bar and pressing [ENTER].

Step 2:- Under the Firmware Update section, check the box to enable the automated firmware update option. Once done, click Apply to save the changes.

NOTE: On the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers, the automated firmware update feature is disabled by default. When online, the router is going to be ready to detect available updates for you to use on your device.

Step 3:- On the Linksys Router update firmware pop-up box, click Yes. Your router will start updating the firmware.

IMPORTANT:– During this process, don’t power OFF the router or close the browser window to avoid corrupting the firmware of your router.

Step 4:- A Linksys Router Reboot screen will pop up. Click Ok to continue. Wait while the router reboots. This usually takes a few minutes.

Step 5:- Once the Linksys Router firmware upgrade is complete, click Ok on the Firmware update complete screen. As well as you should now have an updated firmware on your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router.
